New Blog - I'll try to keep this intresting and provocative.

I've been coming to terms lately with the fact that the way that most of us live on this planet is far beyond the means of what it is capable of sustaining. I'm not an expert but I'm constantly looking for ways to reduce my impact on the only planet we have.

I'll try to keep this updated regularly as I will (hopefully) continue advancing in my quest for sustainability.

A few quick tips that have helped me and saved me some money in the process -
1. Buy a reusable coffee mug. Even if your a die hard Starbucks drive through patron it will be a great investment. Starbucks will fill it in the drive up window and you'll get to save .10 cents per cup.
2. I did the same as above but with a Camelback water bottle from Moosejaw Mountaineering that I use for juice, tea and soda from fast food or gas stations. To date, Speedway and Jimmy Johns have yet to charge me for filling it! That $10 bottle has saved me twice what I paid for it in the first two weeks.
3. Biofuel or electric cars! I don't have the coin needed to buy an electric car, but I did buy a kit to convert my Saab to run E85! I don't have to run it if I can't find it but when I can (2 local stations within a few miles of my house) I save about a dollar per gallon, don't line the pockets of oil execs as deeply and get about a 10hp boost making my car just that much more fun to drive.
4. Compost! Greens and browns, a little additive, some soil and a few earth worms and I've got my own fertilizer. I don't have a garden yet, but that's the next step.

Those are just a few things that I've done so far. More to come, I promise.
